Marcon (-> United Chemi-Con) Company Overview
Established in 1942 by the Toshiba Corporation, Marcon Electronics Co., Ltd.
was acquired by Nippon Chemi-Con in 1995.
This acquisition has enabled United Chemi-Con to expand
its already extensive product line of aluminum electrolytic capacitors
to include os-con, tantalum, film and multi-layer ceramic capacitors,
as well as metal oxide varistors.
As wholly owned subsidiary of Nippon Chemi-Con,
United Chemi-Con is the largest manufacturer and
supplier of aluminum electrolytic capacitors in North America.
Established in the United States in 1970,
United Chemi-Con distributes more than 8,000 products
including products manufactured by United Chemi-Con's manufacturing plant
located in Lansing, North Carolina, as well as other capacitors manufactured
worldwide by NCC and its subsidiaries.

No PCB's
Some oil-filled capacitors manufactured by MARCON ELECTRONICS CO., LTD.
(Futai Chikudennki CO., LTD, Tokyo Denki CO., LTD.) of Nippon Chemi-Con Group
used PCBs as insulating oil.
We stopped using PCBs in July 1972, and therefore,
PCBs are not used as insulating oil for capacitors manufactured after August 1972.
콘덴서 절연유의 Non-PCBs
폴리염화비페닐(Poly chlolinated biphenyl, PCB)란
비페닐에 염소를 첨가한 합성 유기화합물로,
불연성이며 전기절연성이 우수하고 화학적으로 안정되어
절연유, 열매유, 윤활유, 도료, 변압기등에 많이 사용됩니다.
하지만 1970년대 중반 이후 이들 화학약품이 생명체에 해롭다라는 사실이 밝혀지면서
생산과 이용이 제한되고 있습니다.
어류와 무척추동물에게 특히 유독하며 PCB 에 노출 된 사람은
간기능장애, 피부염,등을 유발하게 됩니다.
다이옥신과 마찬가지로 체내에서 강력한 발암작용과 기형아 출산을 유발하는 것으로
알려져 있으며 자연환경과 인체에 축적됩니다.
1997년에는 세계자연보호기금(wwf)에 의해 농약류 43종, 페놀 등
유해화학 물질 42종과 함께 환경호르몬(내분비교란물질)로 지정되어 관리되고
국내 폐기물 관리법에는 2ppm 이상은 지정폐기물로 처리합니다.
전세계적으로 1979년 부터 PCB 계열의 절연유 사용을 금지하였고
현재는 PCB계열이 아닌 절연유를 적용하고 있습니다.
